Today our listing specialist Ashley Engle takes the spotlight to give you a few pointers about selling your home while you have pets in your house.
As a pet lover and an owner of two cats herself, Ashley understands there is a lot of work involved in keeping your home fresh while having your fur babies around. In fact, she recently worked with a couple seller clients who have multiple cats and got feedback from a few potential buyers saying they could smell the pet aroma in the homes of those sellers even though they themselves didn’t notice it.
To make sure your home doesn’t emit any pet odor that might turn off potential buyers, there are a few things you can do. First, clean all the areas where your pets hang out. Vacuum the carpet and sweep all of the hardwoods and tiles floors so no furballs are left lying around. Next, make sure the litter boxes are always clean and have fresh litter.
Lastly, you may have become accustomed to the smell of pets in your home, but other people will still notice it. Bring in a trusted friend or an agent to give you honest feedback and make sure that pet smell is no longer there.
