City of Battleground Receives National Recognition

A place for youth to thrive

In September of 2012, the city of Battleground, WA was named as one of America’s Promise Alliance’s 100 Best Communities for Young People presented by ING, (International Netherlands Group, a Dutch multinational banking and financial services corporation headquartered in Amsterdam.  

The award comes at a time when the high school drop out rate nationally is alarmingly high. The city was recognized for its dedication to making the community and its schools a place where youth can thrive.

Kyle Harris, of Battleground was the competitions youth scholarship winner. She was awarded a $2500 scholarship for her essay raising awareness of teen suicide.

Congratulations to Kyle and the city of Battleground for their outstanding efforts on behalf of their youth.
