The Northwest Neighborhood consists entirely of single-family homes and is characterized by well-kept, mature housing units. This neighborhood is primarily owner-occupied, and is made up by a diverse population of mostly families, middle-aged residents and retirees. Some say that there is a “country within the city” type feeling to this area.
Northwest is home to two elementary schools, one of which is Our Lady of Lourdes private school, and the other Ben Franklin. There are three residential care homes and a few small businesses within the neighborhood. Because of where the neighborhood sits, most residents enjoy a view of Vancouver Lake and the surrounding lowlands.
Recreational amenities include The Discovery Trail, Burnt Bridge Creek, and Franklin Park, which is a favorited gathering spot with great views. The area has abundant green space and landscaping with limited curbs and sidewalks.
