In conjunction with the Shamrock Run is the Adidas Shamrock Fiitness fair on March 16 & 17th with over 60 fitness and running booths at the Oregon Convention Center. Irish music and dancing will be on going all weekend, and you can purchase all sorts of Shamrock attire. Leprechaun Lane will be featuring activities and stuff for your wee ones to do.
For more family fun, be sure to check out the Sellwood-Moreland’s 15th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Festival and Parade at St. Agatha Catholic School on Saturday, March 16th. An old fashioned carnival with cake walk, Irish bands, dancers and singalongs. For sure, Irish fare will be served including Corned beef and cabbage and other Irish favorites, visit www.stagathaschool.us for more information. New this year is the 5k run at 11 am. Parade is at noon.
Don’t forget the annual head shaving fund raiser for Childrens Cancer Research at St. Baldrichs on Saturday 12-5 and Sunday 12-6. Give your hair for a great cause.
Home of the largest Saint Patrick's Day Festival is of course Kell's Irish Restaurant & Pub. Beginning Friday night with Irish music in the Pub and the big tent will host the BOXING of USA versus Ireland. The festival runs all weekend,see www.kellsirish.com for a detailed list of events.
For more adult action, There is the Thirsty Lion Pub in Washington Square and downtown Portland, www.thirstylionpub.com .
How about visiting Paddy’s for a 3 day long event. With a tented street party, Paddy’s increases in size to offer the Timbers vs Seattle Sounders televised event and live Irish music, dancers and bagpipes. And if you have partcipated in the Shamrock Run, bring your race number for all day specials. Paddy’s is also offering VIP passes that give you special privileges through out the weekend.
