Help Name The Newest Public Park In Camas Deadline February 28 2015
The newest public park to be added to the City of Camas’ Parks, Trails and Open Space system will begin construction this year, and it will need a name.
The park site, located on NW 27th Ave., just off NW Fargo in the Drewf’s Farm neighborhood, is 2.53 acres and has been designed to include ADA accessible walking paths, grass area, overlook, nature play area, perimeter tree buffer and native landscaping. The park sits atop a knoll with beautiful views of the surrounding hills and a peek-a-boo view of Mt. Hood.
A committee was formed and given the task of coming up with a few names to offer to the public to begin a nomination and suggestion process. The three names suggested are: “Overlook Community Park”, “Cooper’s Run Community Park”, and “Hawk’s View Community Park”. The City is now asking our citizens to either nominate one of the above names or to suggest a new name. Collection boxes have been placed at City Hall’s front desk, Lacamas Lake Lodge, and the Camas Public Library. Nominations and suggestions will continue through February 28. Upon review of public feedback, the committee will select a name for the new park.
A dedication ceremony for the park will be announced once the site is constructed and open for public use.
